Shopping for shower and bath suites can be a nightmare as there are so many styles to choose from. However, one thing that is usually a given is that you will want a bath and a shower. You then have to choose between a shower screen and a shower curtain. This might seem like a simple choice, but it can all depend on the size of your bathroom, a screen might be too big, or impractical if you’re very tall. A shower curtain on the other hand gives you greater coverage so minimises the chance of puddles on your bathroom floor.

Now that you’ve made your decision, chosen your shower curtain and it matches your bathroom design perfectly. For the first few uses you won’t notice much change, but after a while it will start to get discoloured or develop mildew from the water. To prevent this from happening you should make sure that after you have used it you leave it pulled out straight so it can dry. However, it’s a bit late for that if it’s already mildewed. If you chose a cloth shower curtain then follow the cleaning instructions on the label. If you have a plastic shower curtain then you can put it in the washing machine, but add three or four towels along with it, add some detergent and bleach, enough for a medium sized wash. Use cold water, the towels will help to scrub the curtain, and the bleach will remove the mildew. When you hang it up you might be concerned about the creases, don’t worry, the steam from future showers will smooth them out. If removing the shower curtain and washing it feels like too much hard work with all the other washing you need to do, then you can use a bathroom spray. Use one that isn’t too harsh, wipe down with a cloth and rinse with the shower.
